October 4, 2026. A redesigned app, safer against harmful files and easier to start with: 26 changes, one by one, grouped by topic.

New design (5)

  1. The app has a more modern design, matching the website: softer corners, better colors, and light or dark theme from the top bar.
  2. Budget: "Ready to assign" sits at the top, big, with a button that takes you straight to assigning; next to it, the month at a glance.
  3. Envelopes show as wide rows with what is available, what was used and a progress bar; "Next 30 days" sits beside them.
  4. Transactions shows the balance, money in and money out this month at the top.
  5. New charts in Reports: rounded bars, a savings curve, details on hover or with the keyboard, and a card that sums up the month.

Your data and files (5)

  1. A budget file tampered with by hand is rejected when opening it (and the good copy is used).
  2. Exporting to CSV or calendar can no longer write over your budget.
  3. The app no longer connects to a network folder you didn't choose.
  4. The free trial is harder to reset by deleting files.
  5. Security explains which password to use to open an older backup or an exported copy.

Accounts, envelopes and transactions (7)

  1. If you close Quick add with a split half done, the next transaction starts clean (also with "Save & another").
  2. Payees and names have a 200-character limit and notes 2,000, so the file doesn't grow for nothing.
  3. Budget cards have brief help for Ready to assign, Income, Assigned, Spent and Available, including keyboard access.
  4. Font size shows its percentage as you move the slider in Settings.
  5. "Assign to an envelope" now opens the first envelope's amount field, ready to type, and briefly highlights it.
  6. The Ready to assign help explains that credit card debt isn't subtracted there: it lives in its own envelope under Debts.
  7. With large text or a narrow window, Next 30 days appears above the envelopes instead of at the very end.

Importing bank transactions (9)

  1. A bank file crafted to cause harm (absurd amounts or dates, an Excel file that asks for endless memory, a strange PDF) can no longer close or freeze the app: it is rejected with a clear message.
  2. PDFs immediately show the notice that they cannot be read yet, without trying to open them.
  3. Reviewing files with thousands of similar rows, or an "Excel" file made of HTML, no longer takes minutes.
  4. Amounts written like 1E+5 are no longer misread: they are flagged as invalid. UTF-16 CSV files are accepted.
  5. If a file can't be used (for example, it's empty), the reason stays written in the import window, not just in a notice that fades.
  6. Recurring payment suggestions separate the same payee by account and currency: scheduling or dismissing one doesn't hide the others.
  7. A saved column format is no longer used on a file from another bank or with different columns: they are detected again, so charges and deposits don't come out reversed.
  8. A file with enormous amounts no longer closes the app when computing the projected balance: that balance is simply not shown.
  9. When importing a large file, the Review step always shows and saves every row, never just the 50-row sample.
