Today's rates
Reference rates per 1 USD, from the service described below. They are updated once or twice a day. Select a currency to see its chart.
Coming soon
The change shows how much the amount of that currency per 1 USD moved over the period. If it goes up, the currency buys fewer dollars (it got weaker against the dollar); if it goes down, the opposite. It is only information, not good or bad news.
Where the rates come from
Ensobre collects these rates once or twice a day with its own service, tasas.ensobre.com. When the app asks for a rate, it only sends currency codes: your base currency and the list of your currencies (for example USD,EUR,GBP), plus the app version. It does not send your name, your budget, your accounts or anything else about you.
The rates are for reference and information only. They are not a quote and must not be used to trade or to move money. Your bank's rate may be different.
Cross rates (for example EUR to BRL) are calculated by Ensobre from a USD table. The data is modified.
| Source | Currencies | When it publishes | License and terms |
|---|---|---|---|
| European Central Bank (ECB) | About 29 major currencies (EUR base) | Weekdays, around 16:00 CET | "Source: ECB". Free reuse with a source mention. |
| Bank of Canada | About 27 currencies | Business days | Indicative rates. Bank of Canada terms apply. |
| Banco Central do Brasil (PTAX) | BRL and others | Business days | Open data portal. |
| Banco Central de la República Argentina (BCRA) | ARS and other Latin American currencies | Business days | Official wholesale rate, not the parallel ("blue") dollar. |
| Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia / Banco de la República (datos.gov.co) | COP (TRM) | Daily | Licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0. The COP value Ensobre serves is shared under the same license. |
| Banco Central de Reserva del Perú (BCRPData) | PEN | Business days | Free reuse with a source mention (terms of use). |
How we pick a rate
- Each currency comes first from its own central bank. If that bank has no value for the day, another bank is used as a backup.
- If a rate jumps a lot from one day to the next, we keep the previous value unless another bank confirms the new one.
- If a bank is down, we keep the last value together with its date.
- Every rate shows its source and its date in the app.
Currencies without a central-bank source
Some currencies, such as CRC (Costa Rican colón), GTQ (Guatemalan quetzal), DOP (Dominican peso), HNL (Honduran lempira) and VES (bolívar), have no central-bank source in our service.
In the app, you can get these rates directly from ExchangeRate-API, from your computer, when you ask for them (with the default source, the app does it on its own for these currencies, and ExchangeRate-API sees your IP address). Or you can type the rate yourself.
