Export from YNAB
Use YNAB’s full-budget export, usually called Export Plan Data or Export Budget. It creates a ZIP with CSV files. Keep it zipped: Ensobre reads the ZIP directly.
Import in Ensobre
Choose the YNAB import from the welcome or new-budget flow, select the ZIP, choose a name and base currency, then review the preview. The importer always creates a new budget and never merges into one already open.
What is included
Ensobre imports accounts, category groups and categories, transactions, income, paired transfers, and monthly assigned amounts. Hidden YNAB groups and categories remain hidden. Transfers are paired so they do not become spending twice.
For example, a $600 checking-to-savings transfer, $300 assigned to groceries, and a $75 grocery transaction remain three different facts: the transfer is not grocery spending.
Important differences
Imported accounts use the chosen base currency. Reconciliation dates and notes do not come from the export, though cleared status does. Split rows are imported as separate transactions. Credit-card payment categories are hidden as historical reference because Ensobre records payments as transfers and uses a linked debt envelope for earlier debt. In a card-overspending case, Ready to assign may not match YNAB’s Ready to Assign exactly.
Check the result
Compare account count, recent balances, a few transfers, hidden groups, and card accounts before relying on the imported file. Keep the original export until you are comfortable with the new local budget.
Common questions
Does this change YNAB?
No. Ensobre reads an export and makes a separate local file.
Can I import the same ZIP twice?
Each import creates another new budget, so use the preview deliberately.
