From the first transaction to your month at a glance. No switching apps or currencies.
See what you spent in the account’s currency and its equivalent in your base currency. Reports keep the historical exchange rate.
Ensobre finds the header row and the columns on its own, even with title rows or separate debit and credit columns, and shows a preview before importing anything.
Where the money went, income vs. spending, and how your balance moves over time. All in the reference currency you choose.
Your budget, under your control
The .ensobre format is open and documented. Copy your data and export it whenever you want, even if you stop using the app.

In a single .ensobre file on your own disk (older versions used .arca; those still open too). That file is a standard SQLite database in a small container (an 8-byte header, or a 49-byte one plus encryption if you set a password) — the full format is publicly documented, nothing proprietary, nothing hidden. You can copy that file anywhere: a USB drive, your own Dropbox, an external disk. Ensobre doesn’t host anything and doesn’t know where you keep your copies.
Your data was never locked in to begin with. Because the file format is documented and it’s an SQLite database inside, you (or anyone) can read it without Ensobre installed: without a password, just strip its 8-byte header; with one, the documented format explains how to decrypt it (Argon2id + AES-256-GCM). Easier still: export it from Ensobre as a plain SQLite file. You can also export everything at any point, as CSV or as a plain SQLite file, no strings attached.
Not automatically, and not through any Ensobre-run server — that would break the “no account, ever” promise. You can keep your budget file in a folder you already sync yourself (your own Dropbox, iCloud Drive, OneDrive or Syncthing) and open it from each computer: Ensobre saves atomically, won’t open the same file twice on one computer, and if the file changed elsewhere it asks before overwriting. Close it on one computer before opening it on another: sync services don’t pass that lock between computers. It isn’t real-time sync, and Ensobre will never operate or bill you for a sync server of its own.
Yes, with one license for up to 3 computers in your household. In v1 you share the file by hand or through a folder you sync yourself. Close it on one computer before opening it on another: it is not real-time sync.
Not in v1. Ensobre launches as a desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux first, because that’s where the core budgeting workflow — importing statements, mapping columns, assigning envelopes — actually happens. A companion mobile app for quick expense capture is a possible v2, syncing through a folder you control, never through a company server.
Ensobre doesn’t connect to any bank API — that’s a deliberate choice, not a missing feature. Instead, you export a statement from your bank (CSV, Excel, OFX, QFX or QIF; many banks offer at least one in online banking) and drag it in. A column-mapping wizard with live preview handles banks that don’t fit the common formats (if your bank only gives PDFs, you can enter transactions by hand or with quick add), and duplicate detection is always reviewed by you before anything is confirmed — nothing gets silently discarded.
Your budget runs on your computer. Ensobre goes online to activate your license and about once a month to check it (without internet it keeps working), to look for a new version when it opens (you can turn that off), and to update exchange rates when you press the button or if you turn on automatic updates. It never uploads your budget and sends no telemetry. Where exchange rates come from.
Free for 30 days with every feature. No account, no card, no email required.
Ensobre is new and its installers aren’t signed with a paid certificate yet, so your system asks you to confirm. Updates are signed and verified by the app itself.
